I feel like instead of doing a blog I should just be writing letters to people. Makes it a little less about myself hopefully. I am going to write a letter to my friend Edwin, who also makes websites and he started an Artist accountibility group in Atlanta where they're gonna meet in a cemetary (sick) and I burned him a CD mixtape 2 months ago i need to mail.
I'm also going to write a letter to my friend and Edwins's roomate, Quincy, cuz I also burned him a copy of Tampon Militia Greatest hits poetry a couple months ago. He's a cool poet and I want to see what he's been doing and his plans for poetry.
I should also write a letter to my friend Sam in Clarksville cuz he bought a house which is nuts and he's all moved in now and i want him to draw a layout of his new house.
I did paint a postcard for my friend Austin 4 months ago but I never sent it and now he is going to be here this weekend so I'll just give it to him then.
Gosh I really have a lot of things/ CDs I need to mail. Sorry Sully and Seth and Emma
When Kozbi and I were long distance we would send a lot of letters early on. I still have a shoebox filled with hers from those early times. I used to save up multiple letters and mail mine to her in 9-volt Battery Boxes cuz they were wide, flat, unbranded cardboard boxes and you could put things on the top.
my musical contribution this month is this amps for christ album I can't get enough of. ngl I found it on instagram from that band "@" talking about it and I am embarrassed about that. what's up with acoustic indie duos these days...
My new goal is that the next Hammers Sitting Still release will be a split EP with a likeminded person/ people and that by the Winter I will have a new noise/ punk project and it will be numbing and "fulfilling" was the word that came to mind there. what does that mean lol. thanks.
JUNE 30 2026
whats up summer. I love being sweaty and being able to smell things. I love having visitors come visit from home and getting to show them around Boston, it's a lot of my friends' and family's first time up here because they've never had a reason to come this far North. Got to see crazy whales in Gloucester with my grandma from OK and that was dope. Also went to Wollaston Beach with my dad on Father's Day. A storm came in over the city and the harbors in the distance when we were sitting there and it was very beautiful. Work got rough and I was out for the count for like a week or two, whatever. I have been spending a lot of my free time doing websites... and not sure if I like that lol. I transfered the neocities stuff to be more "legit" on github and local files and splish. I think the majority of my time goes to setting up things for the future. And making lists. I'm reading "The Iceman Cometh" right now and it's basically all that besides the heavy drinking, except my pipe dream will blow up >:).
Hammers sitting still has got that a show on July 12th at the Lilypad PLUS a 2 hour Gig at a bar that'll be mostly covers on July 26th. Compiling a list of songs to play for that so that we can sit and learn them later...
Yesterday I found this George Jones cover of The Blues Man by HWII with a Dolly appearance and cried a lot.
I led an open mic at Sennott park for Camberville Folk on Sunday with big ol lip from a mouth surgery on Fri. I met some cool people and got to hear some cool songs.
I almost wrote a new song. It's got a fast strum part :0 it takes me so long to write 1 song it's embarrassing.
Never investigated This Terry Allen album til last week. Wow! I grew up in Lubbock as a kid and much of it lives in me still. I love how much he tries to hate it but you can tell he doesn't.
This Boston band Pew Pew put out a new album a few weeks ago that I've been listening to a TON.
I hope if anyone reads this, that they are having a good time and June.
MAY 28 2026
We chilled by 6 different lakes this week on a trip to Chicago and Wisconsin and it was fire. Madison is probably in my Top ten cities I've been to in the United States list. Hammers Sitting Still played our first venue show at the Silhouette Lounge on Wedensday, it was fun, Rock n Roll. There was a light up letter board behind that someone had spelled out "poob" with and it was really annoying to me lol but also of course it is funny. It was so bright for no reason loll. Here's a picture of said show and letter board.
MAY 19 2026
Woah just updated the Hammers Sitting still site again (w it's own updates page!) cuz we got two random shows to fill out the whole summer :D Rock n roll show at The Silhouette Lounge on may 27th. The sil was the first venue i went to to see a show when we moved here last summer so that's cool. and our buddies Finger Foods from nashville are coming july 12th at the lilypad which will be dope too. Used to play w them with when they'd come thru Knoxville. Feel very blessed that these shows popped up for us within just a couple days, as it's a good push towards figuring out what this project will be for Kozbi and I and fulfills a continuing goal of having a show per month. Lets go. We saw Hum this wknd in nyc it was epic. and we stayed with our friend Ted who makes music under Law Office.
This is the start of a blog i guess. May use this page as an overall updater to other projects of mine in the future as well. and things I think are cool. whatever. I found out about Car vs Driver this week and it makes me happy. It's a fire band name. I also noticed this Age of Peace album. This is the direction of folk I've been directing my little folk walking shoes towards for a little bit. They sound so free and in love. Seems like I need bigger shoes and a wider stride to keep up. or maybe just guitar lessons. Speaking of guitar lessons, I found this website for Sam Davis via Google maps around Cambridge looking for guitar stores. Man it's so cool. His Flyers are so awesome and funny makes me miss the days when physical posters were a more used format for local advertisement. I've been trying to get deeper in the flyer design world and it is a mysterious place. forces me to refine my design processes. I also love the designs this person from Chciago (I think?) makes. Maybe I'll run into them one day and we can talk solid color backgrounds and superimposition. I also love this dude Aidan from Athens' designs. He plays in a bunch of dope Athens bands. Inspiring me to try and do more hand-involved splish. Maybe move away from the photo digital collage style I usually am used to.
There's some words for you. I sense good things ahead this summer.
MAY 10 2026
I updated the website today to be more spring cuz now it's spring. I also put a little photo of our schedule for our next show(s) which is June 13th at the Camberville folk house show #16 :0 There's a chance we may play at an impromtu house show in Madison, Wisconsin around memorial day. We'll see what happens. I am excited for what this spring will bring and super excited for the Summer. I've been listening to a lot of Frank Hurricane this week. I'm excited to feel worn out from the sun and write new music. Kozbi wrote a song earlier this week about how my 3 front teeth are dead via root canal and maybe that will make its way into our song lexicon soon. Thanks for looking at this website and hope the summer will be dope for you. - Ryan
